This five-year, £68.3 million restoration project overseen by Jon McAslan & Partners was a much-anticipated remodelling of the Category A-listed museum. The Burrell Collection is a world-renowned museum set within the historic Pollok Country Park in Glasgow.
Recognised as one of Scotland’s finest post-war buildings, the restoration features a new entrance to the east of the retained front door and includes significant volumetric and layout interventions internally to create new learning spaces, open access storage, special exhibition areas, an updated café and retail facilities. New external landscaped terraces now seamlessly link the museum to the surrounding Pollok Country Park. We worked closely with the main contractor and architect to achieve the required finish. Energy conservation techniques have been used throughout this project whilst improving the conservation of the collection.
